Carving and Bas-Reliefs Carving wood allowed me to add dimension to my work. Bas-reliefs, in particular, became a way to highlight the intricate grain patterns of the wood in three-dimensional forms. This technique also introduced me to wood burning and coloring, which further enhanced the visual impact of my pieces. These simple slices evolved into more complex book-matched pieces, where the unique grain patterns seemed to tell their own stories. This process not only deepened my appreciation for wood as a medium but also challenged me to explore its possibilities further.

To create these fractals, I began using computer programs that could generate thousands of variations. Each fractal then served as a blueprint for further artistic exploration and manipulation.

Merging Technology with Tradition The CNC router was a pivotal tool in bringing these designs to life. By carving based on precise digital models, I could achieve levels of detail and consistency unattainable by hand alone.

Paints and Techniques Choosing the right finishes, like metallic base paints, was essential for the final presentation. These paints added a reflective quality that enhanced the depth and complexity of the bas-reliefs.
