Gene Wood Artistry
Hollow forms ornamented
This group was designed to include some old-fashioned elements of the 18th century. All pieces were hollowed, heavily carved, and colored.
All of these pieces were done from pear wood.
I call this grouping "sepia", may be because of the color. Design was symmetrical. A lot of woodburning was involved. Warm colors, ranging from yellow to deep brown, are natural burned color. Colors are dependent on temperature and the tool used.
Decorations were done with a high speed carver.
These pieces were carved from maple. I was experimenting with different texturing.
These pieces were done from walnut. I was using huge thorns which came from trees from Israel. Don't know tree name.
